Teacher Training

Research-based training for inclusive and effective language instruction

Overview

Teacher Training includes two complementary areas of focus: inclusive language instruction for students with disabilities and acquisition-driven instruction grounded in how the brain learns language. Together, these approaches support more effective, accessible classrooms for all learners.

Inclusive Language Instruction

This training equips educators with practical strategies for supporting students with disabilities in world language and English learner classrooms. Participants learn how to adapt instruction, modify assessments, and create inclusive environments where all students can meaningfully participate and acquire language.

Acquisition-Driven Instruction

This training focuses on how language is acquired in the classroom context and provides teachers with practical strategies aligned with that process. While foundational for supporting students with disabilities, the emphasis is on effective language teaching practices that benefit all learners.

How these trainings differ

  • Inclusive Language Teaching focuses on who you are teaching (students with disabilities)
  • Acquisition-Driven Instruction focuses on how language is taught (how the brain learns)

Many educators benefit from both, but each can be delivered independently based on your goals.

Format

  • Virtual or onsite
  • Workshops or multi-session training
  • Coaching
  • Customizable based on context
